We got our Wellies and rain coats out and were all organised for The National Ploughing Championship which took place in Tullamore, Co. Offaly 18th – 20th September. It started very well on Day 1 with crowds of 80,000 people attending.  Rí na Mara got a fantastic review article in the Farmers Journal, a recommendation “not to be missed” at the Ploughing.

Another highlight for me was  meeting my hurling hero Joe Canning (pictured above ), he has given us some amazing sporting moments!

Day 1 at Ploughing Championship, Amy, Michelle & Deirdre rocking our wellies 😂

Day 2 of Ploughing and Storm Ali hit the site like a tornado💨 👨‍🌾  Due to the damage and safety concerns the event was cancelled for the day and all the people who had travelled from the early hours of the morning had to return home again disapointed.

When the storm eventually died down and we were permitted to enter the site to check things out, Rí na Mara marquee was completely destroyed.

Ploughing site looks like a tornado has ripped through it, our marquee has been completely torn up!

The National Ploughing Association then decided to open on Friday to make up for closing on Wednesday, we had to drive back to Galway to get a replacement marquee, it was long night !

Hip hip hooray we are all set up, open & ready for business after Storm Ali. Marion, Deirdre, Geraldine & Ann Marie.
Song for today 🎼 I get Knocked Down, but I get up again… 🎼

We just want to say a very big “Thank you” to everyone who braved the weather or attempted to, and visited us on Rí na Mara stand. We really enjoyed meeting, laughing and catching up with you all,

Regards,

Deirdre
